Hero Lin, born 1979, graduated from the Department of Mathematics, Feng Chia University and Graduate School of Animation Art, Department of Multimedia and Animation Arts, National Taiwan University of Arts. He is a veteran netizen, who had once made an animation series called The Puppet (unofficial) based on actual puppets. The production received overwhelming response in the Internet world and was awarded locally and abroad.
Silent Code (2012) was Hero Lin's first feature length film. It tells a story that occurred on "PTT" - a distinctive social network platform in Taiwan, and combines real acting with 3D animation. The film was highly rated for its creative style and story, grossing a strong NT$55 million nationwide and earned Hero Lin the nomination for Best New Director in the 2012 Golden Horse Awards. Hero Lin followed up on his success with short film - Dark Code in 2013. In 2016, Lin released Happy Dorm, a teen comedy aimed to exceed the audience's impression about campus romance in every aspect.
