I. Event Description
Last but not least, 2020 Taipei Film Academy – Pixar Animation Seminar will be held on 30th Nov. The Oscar®-winning director Pete Docter will give us a pre-recorded speak about his invaluable experience as the Chief Creative Officer in Pixar Animation Studios. Moreover, he will also showcase some of the unreleased behind the scenes footages from his latest movie Soul.

Pete Docter

PETE DOCTER (Director/Story & Screenplay by) is the Oscar®-winning director of “Monsters, Inc.,” “Up” and “Inside Out,” and chief creative officer at Pixar Animation Studios.
Starting at Pixar in 1990 as the studio’s third animator, Docter collaborated and helped develop the story and characters for “Toy Story,” Pixar’s first full-length animated feature film, for which he also was supervising animator. He served as a storyboard artist on “A Bug’s Life” and wrote initial story treatments for both “Toy Story 2” and “WALL•E.” Aside from directing his three films, Docter also executive produced “Monsters University” and the Academy Award®-winning “Brave.”
Docter’s interest in animation began at age 8 when he created his first flipbook. He studied character animation at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) in Valencia, Calif., where he produced a variety of short films, one of which won a Student Academy Award®. Those films have since been shown in animation festivals worldwide and are featured on the “Pixar Short Films Collection Volume 2.” Upon joining Pixar, Docter animated and directed several commercials, and has been nominated for eight Academy Awards, including best animated feature winners “Up” and “Inside Out,” and nominee “Monsters, Inc.,” and best original screenplay for “Up,” “Inside Out” and “WALL•E.” In 2007, “Up” was also nominated for a best picture Oscar by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

1. Qualification: Open to public registration. No qualification needed.

- Successful applicants will be announced on TFC website and notified via email in mid-November.

VIII. Other Information
A. The event will be adjusted in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, safety measures will be conducted on-site, and to update in accordance with regulations of the Central Epidemic Command Center.
B. Applicants have the obligation to make sure all submitted information are true and accurate. Taipei Film Commission disqualifies an applicant’s participation in any future of its events and announces all dishonest applications on its official website.
C. A valid proof of identity is required for selected participants on-site. Taipei Film Commission reserves the right to disqualify a participant if the participant fails to prove his/her identity.
D. In the event work and classes are announced suspended by the Taipei City Government due to force majeure such as natural disasters, acts of terrorism; labor disputes or stoppages; war; government acts or orders; epidemics; pandemics or outbreak of communicable disease; the courses of the day will be canceled without notice.
E. In the event that changes are made to the Forum, the official website of Taipei Film Commission prevails other sources of information. Taipei Film Commission reserves the right to make changes to and interpret this notice of enrollment and the selection criteria to apply.
F. If controversies over the application or interpretation of this enrollment should occur, the situation shall be settled according to legal regulations of Republic of China (Taiwan). The applicant agrees that any litigation arising from this Forum shall be subjected to the jurisdiction of Taipei District Court in the first instance.
G. By submitting an application to the Forum, the applicant understands and accepts the guidelines of this enrollment, and agrees that Taipei Film Commission gathers and processes his/her personal information according to law.
H. Photo-taking, video-taping and sound-recording are not allowed in the Forum.
