, a highly anticipated films this year, will be making its way into the theaters today (February 14). Last evening (the 13th), Wuchang Street was closed off for a "Premiere Promotion Marathon," where the performers paraded through Ximending and greeted the audience in a premiere ceremony, hoping to rally support for the film's box office. In despite of his wound, director Yen Cheng-kuo stood up when seeing director Hou Hsiao-hsien, and took photos with him; the scene was really touching. The film's three main leads - Collin Chou, Wang Shih-sian and Jack Kao - led a group of powerful young actors comprising Cheng Jen-shuo, Huang Shang-ho, Tang Zhen-gang, Wu Zhen-ya, Chang Zhang-xing, Tender Huang, Samuel Gu, JV, Richard Sun, Shao Hsin, Chen Wan-hao and Lin Dao-yu, as well as the female cast consisting of Peggy Tseng, Sharon Hsu, Angel Wang and Lin Chen-yi who played the gangsters’ sexy mistresses, to greet the audience on stage.

, including Tsai Chen-nan, Lotus Wang, Alien Huang and Morrison Ni, were also present at the premiere to wish for the film's success. But the most surprising of all was the surprising appearance of the industry's most prominent figures including Hou Hsiao-hsien, Chiu Li-kuang, Chang Chia-nien(Tai Pao), Sam Tseng and Yang Chung-hsien, making the ceremony even more dazzling. Sam Tseng even made fun of Chiu Li-kuang, saying: "Madam Chiu always wears sandals except on very cold days." To which Chiu Li-kuang replied: "Does this trouble you?" A moving scene took place: Director Yen Cheng-kuo initially arrived on red carpet in a wheelchair, but having learned of the presence of his mentor, Hou Hsiao-hsien, Yen stood up on his injured legs and insisted on accompanying Hou through the red carpet.

took place at an enclosed section of Wuchang Street in Ximending, attracting the attention of a sizable crowd. The ceremony began with a lion dance and ended with executive producer Chang Wei-yen and producer Chang Wen-chi leading the actors to light the "furnace of power" with “leader’s fire” to signify the film's worldwide success.
grossed more than NT$80 million, and its sequel won high acclaims from all sides. Critics praised the expanded storyline, more compelling visuals to improved realism. The audience has held high expectations toward Gatao 2
despite it being "R-rated." Many cinema professionals expect record-breaking performance in the box office; there was a popular demand for film accessories and packaged products. There have even been rumors about the film's release in overseas markets. Producer Chang Wei-yen said that they planned to make Gatao 3 in collaborate with foreign partners.
